COMM TECH MINISTER LISTS BENEFITS OF ICT FOR YOUTH EMPOWERMENT.
The Minister of Communication Technology, Mrs. Omobola Johnson has re-iterated the Federal Government’s resolve to support the ICT industry for National Development.

Mrs. Johnson stated this at the opening ceremony of the NaijaCloud project held at the DBI Training Academy in Oshodi, Lagos on Monday, March 18, 2013. The aim of the 3-day workshop is to seek unemployment reduction and wealth creation through Microwork and E-lancing.
  “The ICT sector is one that has the capability to generate jobs for the Nigerian youth, it is the hope of the Ministry that we get large number of youths to register on the platform and take part in this free workshop. The ultimate goal of this project is to tap into a multi-billion dollar industry and create wealth for our youths across the country”, the Minister stated.

NIGCOMSAT Ltd, one of the partners of the event provided premium services to the students and guests as they were enabled to browse the net seamlessly through the duration of the workshop. Live video streaming of the Lagos proceedings was successfully beamed to students in the Abuja and Kano centers verifying NIGCOMSAT’s promise to provide affordable applications to the Nigerian populace.

Other special dignitaries at the event included the Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Communication Technology Dr. Henry Akpan, the President of the Digital Bridge Institute, Prof. Raymond Akwule, Mrs. Oluwaseyi Agunbiade, a representative of the STEP-B/World Bank project and the moderator, Mr. Ola Ogunneye who is SA ICT to the Minister of Communication Technology.
